Tired of the same old smoothie?

Have smoothies taken over your life? Do you feel like you’re mixing a smoothie for nearly every meal of the day? Are you getting to that point where the idea of choking down another smoothie seems near impossible?

I’m not here to talk to you about the value(s) of smoothies or when or how often you should be having one, but rather I’d like to give you some ideas to make your smoothie drinking a bit more enjoyable. Consider this a way to mix up your smoothies!

Smoothie Bowl PB

We call it the Smoothie Bowl and it’s basically a build off of the smoothies that you’re already making. However, in this case, we’re going to make the Smoothie a little bit thicker, a little bit richer and we’re going to add some edible items to it versus blending everything together.

For example, to make a chocolate fudge smoothie bowl, we’re going to add some of the same items that you would to a normal smoothie, but we’re going to add some solid elements as well. Blend the following ingredients as you normally would: milk, banana, avocado, dates, your protein powder of choice, cocoa powder, peanut butter, and cinnamon. Pour this thick smoothie into a bowl and top with raspberries and coconut.

Another tasty option is to blend together orange, banana, carrot, Kiefer, almond butter, orange zest, and vanilla extract. Pour this blended bliss into a bowl and top with muesli, blueberries, and some syrup to liking.

The idea is not to replace your smoothie but to replace the way that you make it so that it isn’t the same old drink every time. Enjoying it in a bowl forces you to enjoy the meal more, slow down a little and add some solid foods to your day. These bowls offer you the opportunity to enjoy your smoothie with a spoon and with a variety of toppings allow you to get some crunch and wow factor.

Consider topping your bowls with things like fresh fruits and berries, nuts and seeds, mint, syrup and cacao. Happy smoothing!
