King's Camps Pro Team

Pro Team

King’s Camps and Fitness is proud to support and sponsor the following Pro Team Athletes. These elite athletes not only represent a top level of dedication to their sport, but exemplify the core values of King’s Camps and Fitness on and off the course.

  • Mike King

Mike King is the founding member of the King’s Camps Pro Team since its conception in 2013. Mike is a seasoned athlete who competes in the Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) circuit, as well as road and trail races. Mike has numerous podium finishes in OCR races such as Spartan Race, the former Battle Frog, Rugged Maniac, Savage Race, as well as the Spartan World Championships, the OCR World Championships, and World’s Toughest Mudder. In 2016, Mike was ranked 2nd in the national BattleFrog points series. Mike has also placed well in the running world, taking top positions in both road and trail races. While a masters category athlete, Mike can often be found challenging those many times half his age, embracing the statement that “age is just a number.” He is dedicated to helping others in all of their fitness pursuits, and especially helping you “overcome your obstacles,” which has become the King’s Camps mantra.

  • Jeff Shady

Jeff Shady became a member of the King’s Camps Pro Team in 2016 and is an ever-present fixture in the OCR circuit.  Jeff has numerous podium finishes in various race series such as Spartan Race and Rugged Maniac, and he has competed in the Spartan World Championships. Jeff can be found training hard on the trails of Monterey, CA where there is no shortage of ideal courses and hills with which to hone his skills.

  • Wilfredo Malazarte

Wilfredo Malazarte became a Pro Team member in 2015 after training for over a year with Coach Mike in preparation for his OCR races. Wilfredo participates in all distances of OCR races, but has taken a liking to the longer distances of the Spartan Race Ultra Beast and World’s Toughest Mudder–where he clocked 50+ miles in 2016. Wilfredo is deeply involved in the OCR community and can often be found helping other new and upcoming athletes with advice and support. If you want to find Wilfredo at a race, look for his ever-present smile–even during a bucket carry.

  • Arnaud

Arnaud was a soccer player in his previous life before OCR–so it comes as no surprise that he’s lighting fast out at the races. His quick feet and strong upper body strength make Arnaud a force to be reckoned with, whether it’s running trail races or swinging from Spartan Race rigs. In 2018, he won 1st place at the Steep Ravine 25K trail race; 1st place in the Spartan Race Las Vegas Sprint; and 3rd place at the Machete Madness trail race. Originally from France, Arnaud makes it a point to train outdoors no matter the weather. When he’s not racing, you can frequently find him running the hills of San Francisco.

  • Orce (Archie) Naumovski

Orce (Archie) Naumovski used to be a 2 pack-a-day smoker and 40-50 LBS overweight. Determined to get his life on track, he joined a running club. But, it wasn’t until he found OCR that his motivation to get healthy kicked in. With consistent and dedicated training, 2018 has seen several podiums for Archie in Spartan’s age group category. In 2017, Archie won 2nd place in the U.S. OCR Championships; In 2016, he won 3rd place (age group) in the Spartan West Coast Champions; and in 2014 he won 1st place (age group) in the San Francisco Urbanathalon. Archie has also won first place (age group) for the last consecutive five years at the San Jose Gladiator Rock n’ Run. Archie attributes his winnings to hard work and training at King’s Camps and Fitness, which has greatly improved his grip strength and his cardiovascular health. (Not to mention, it’s a fun place to train!) Watch out, racers–Archie’s coming for you!

  • Eduard Korat

Eduard Korat is passionate about endurance racing. From running his first marathon at age 17 to finishing the Ironman Hawaii 6 times, Eduard is one who doesn’t shy away from putting foot to pavement. In 2016, Eduard discovered OCR racing on TV and knew he had to try it. Since then, he’s not only tried OCR racing, he’s dominated it. In 2018, Eduard became the Spartan North American and World Champion for men 50 and above. When he’s not at Kings Camps and Fitness, you can find him running in Rancho San Antonio, the rolling hills of Los Altos, or on the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Originally from Germany, Eduard lives in the South Bay with his wife, two kids, and two cats. If you’re looking for and are up for a challenge, he invites you to join him at King’s Camps OCR Open Gyms where you will find him training sandbell in hand as he completes one of SGX-coach Mike’s challenging workouts.

  • Christian

One episode of American Ninja Warrior was all it took for Christian to become hooked on all things obstacles. Since then, he’s devoted much, if not all, of his spare time into training ninja warrior training, which incidentally, also led him to King’s Camps and Fitness. Christian quickly channeled his ninja training into the OCR world. In May 2018, he ran his first OCR race. Since then, he’s achieved several podium spots–including a podium at the OCR World Championships and two podiums at the 2018 AT&T Spartan Race. Christian loves the OCR community and can often be found playing ninja at King’s Camps and Fitness during their OCR Open Gym.

  • Kevin Franquist

Kevin has a long history in competitive racing, from running in some of the pioneering mud runs such as the early Tough Mudders, Warrior Dash, Swampfoot, as well as snatching multiple top finishes at the Detroit Turkey Trot. But as some athletes do, his strong start started to fade after a couple of years. Thankfully, he found King’s Camps and Fitness in 2017 and his stride started to pick up again. With King’s camps, Kevin remembered how much he loved racing and has splashed again onto the OCR scene. He’s taken on multiple Spartan Races, Rugged Maniac, Ragnar Trail, and Terrain Race. In 2018, he reached the podium with a 3rd place finish at the North American OCR Championships and a 3rd place finish at the Silicon Valley 10k Turkey Trot. In his spare time you can find Kevin running trails around the bay area, training at the King’s Camps and Fitness OCR Open Gym, and building the latest kick-ass obstacles at Kings Camps with Coach Mike.

  • Dustin Needham

Dustin Needham is no stranger training regimes. Originally a football and track and field athlete from Waco, TX, he knows it takes hard work and dedication to be one’s best. So you’ll often find Dustin running trails late into the day and pushing rep after rep during his obstacle course training at King’s Camps. In 2018, Dustin competed in over 40 OCR and running races—with numerous top 5 finishes and podium appearances, including 2nd place at the USA OCR National Championships. When Dustin’s not racing or training, he enjoys helping his fellow athletes and hanging out with his wife and two (almost) grown kids.

  • Ian Deyerle

Ian has been a member of the Pro Team since 2018 and part of the community for much longer. Ian is well known in the OCR community as a fierce competitor yet being one of the kindest athletes on the course. Ian has been on the podiums of the best OCR houses out there and holds the Spartan Race Pro Team number of 034. He was also on the winning teams “The Come Back Kids” and Strike a Pose” for the televised Spartan Ultimate Team Challenge. When not on the course, Ian can be found training in the San Jose area in some of the most unconventional ways and at King’s Camps and Fitness’ OCR Open Gyms.

  • Aadil Faruqui

Aadil was an avid basketball player until a serious concussion cut short his ability to participate in standard contact sports. He spent an intense 8 months recovering from this concussion, during which time he became aware of OCR. Once his doctor cleared him for physical activity, Aadil knew he had to try OCR and signed up for a training class. In 2017 he began racing for fun before deciding to turn competitive in 2018, where he achieved 5 podium finishes in 9 races. Aadil loves to push his body to the limits in order to be the best and is willing to tackle any workout thrown at him. He is a full-time student at The College Preparatory school in Oakland, and when he is not training, he is studying hard, completing countless projects and assignments.

  • Rea Kolbl Pra

Rea Kolbl Pra joined the King’s Camps and Fitness Pro team in 2017 after being introduced to Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) through Spartan Race, where she is also a member of the Reebok Spartan Pro Team. She is easily recognised for her lightning quick speed, and while she is fairly new to the OCR circuit, Rea is no stranger to competition. She has years of top finishes across a variety of running distances, and for 2017 already holds first place finishes for both the elite woman’s Super and Sprint for the Spartan SoCal Race.  Look for Rea this year as she pushes the boundaries of OCR as she makes her way to the Spartan World Championships.

  • Alicia Kueker

Alicia is no stranger to competitive sports! Though Alicia has only recently moved to the West Coast from the Midwest, her time playing collegiate basketball has trained her to work hard when there’s a goal she wants to achieve. She first experienced OCR at a small race back in May of 2017. She fell in love with the sport, along with the show American Ninja Warrior. In October 2017, Alicia qualified and attended the OCR World Championships in October 2017. Since moving to the Bay Area in 2019, Alicia sought out and found the best OCR training facility at King’s Camps and Fitness. She loves not only the training it provides, but also its supportive and welcoming community. She looks forward to bringing her training to her upcoming OCR races!

  • Julie Werney

Julie joined the King’s Camps and Fitness Pro Team in 2014 and quickly made a name for herself in the OCR elite circuit. Julie has numerous podium finishes in the Master’s category for Spartan Race, BattleFrog (RIP), and the Savage Race series. In 2016, Julie took 2nd place at the OCR World Championships and 2nd in the BattleFrog national point series.  Julie’s love for and knowledge of OCR racing is infectious, which is why she frequently helps coach our Obstacle Open Gym nights and other OCR programs. When Julie’s not racing, she can be found helping others overcome their obstacles by providing tips and motivation.

  • Monica Villarreal

While relatively new to the OCR race circuit, Monica is a fierce OCR athlete that achieved a podium finish at the 2017 Terrain Race. In 2015, Monica ran her first OCR race and was instantly hooked on the sport. She ran 20 OCR races in 2016 and completed three Spartan trifectas. In addition to OCR, Monica frequently can be found racing local trail series such as the Rodeo Valley 30K Trail Run, Surfers Path Marathon, and the 18 mile Mermaid Run.  With her infectious passion for OCR and running, Monica will conquer anything she sets her mind to—she truly embodies the King’s Camps and Fitness philosophy to #overcomeyourobstacles. When she’s not out on the trails or in the mud racing, you can find Monica training at our OCR Open Gym or Warrior Boot Camp.

  • Dawn Wu

Dawn Wu became a member of the King’s Camps and Fitness Pro Team in 2017, but she’s no stranger to racing. She entered her first 5K in May 2013: the Los Altos Hills Pathways Run. Since then she’s tackled the Golden Gate Relay, Ragnar Trail Tahoe, San Francisco Hot Chocolate 15K, and multiple half marathons. When Dawn found King’s Camps and Fitness and participated in its OCR Royal Race, she got bit hard by the OCR bug. Since then, she’s been fiercely competing in OCR races such as Spartan Race, and Gladiator Rock n’ Run, and Rugged Maniac. In 2017, she took two podiums–2nd at Spartan AT&T Sprint and 3rd at Gladiator Rock n’ Run—and she’s just getting started. In her spare time, she’s a full time scientist, a mom to two energetic boys, and an all-around badass who’s quick with her smiles and infectious laughter—as long as you don’t interrupt her set.

  • Jana Eastus

Jana Eastus doesn’t crack under pressure. Whether she’s parenting her two teens (eek!) or working in the hospital emergency room, Jana knows what it takes to do a hard job well. Not surprisingly, her nerves of steel have helped her outside of work and her personal life. She’s a competitive athlete who enjoys running the trails in Gilroy, as well as competing in fitness competitions. It wasn’t too soon after finding OCR that Jana became a frequent podium flyer, often beating the times of competitors half her age–proving time and time again that age is just a number. When Jana’s not competing, she likes to spend her time inspiring and coaching others to be the very best they can be.

  • Marisa
    Marisa
Marisa found King’s Camps and Fitness in 2016 when she was training for her second Spartan race. Marisa always liked to stay active, though she never considered herself an athlete. After her first Spartan race–the Spartan Sprint at AT&T Park in 2015–she was hooked. She began training more at King’s Camps Open Gyms and its Warrior Boot Camp. As she learned obstacle techniques from Coach Mike and the Pro Team members, she also became inspired by the community to dig deeper with her training and take on new challenges. She soon set her sights on the North American Obstacle Course Racing Championships and Obstacle Course World Championships. Her training paid off when after earning podium spots at some local trail races, she took 3rd place in the women’s team relay at the NorAm Championships in 2019 with Pro Team members Dawn and Monica. She loves swinging like a monkey at King’s Camps and can’t wait to set even higher goals for upcoming seasons.
